3 R’s: Rest, Relax, Recharge
How many of us actually do it? Not many….we’re always going 100 miles a minute, multitasking, over scheduling, and sacrifice for others. Don’t you deserve to pamper yourself? You deserve it. Getaway from the traffic of life. Surrender the keys, let someone else drive. Listen up, life can function with your absence for one day. You’ve been stretching and bending for everyone, when was the last time you enjoy “ME TIME”.
Bubbles, Candles & Music…oh my!
Candles are a girls best friend, the nice aroma is very therapeutic. It calms the mind and relaxes the body. Schedule a time, possibly everyday to enjoy a quiet time. This quiet time can be anywhere in your home or outside the home. Instead of candles, try diffusers. I love them and the oils are beneficial. I’ll discuss later about the ones I’m currently using. How about a bubble bath or the newest kind called, bath bombs? Sit in the tub, enjoy soothing music, burn the oils, and relax.
The Power of Reading
I’m always in Barnes and Noble, sitting in one of the aisles, just reading a book. Although, they offer seats, sometimes sitting on the carpet in the aisle feels relaxing in my opinion. Take advantage of a quiet area or when you’re alone at home to brew some tea (or coffee) and read on the sofa. I find tranquility while reading my bible, watching a christian movie, or other types of genres. Absorb yourself in the adventures or inspiration awaiting between the pages.
Take a walk or hike
How about a stroll around a different part of your neighborhood or a park you’ve always wanted to visit. As we’re driving, we seem to miss out on breathtaking scenery. How about you take a walk to explore those places? A walk helps to relieve stress, clear your mind, and appreciate Gods beauty. Being in a different atmosphere just changes your mood instantly. Your stress just blows away!
Pour out in words
Dumping all the thoughts onto paper, does the mind wonders. Journaling is a great start. You feel a sense of peace, afterwards. No need to be concern about spellcheck or proper grammar, just write your hearts desire. It’s time to send out the eviction notice to those negative thoughts occupying your mind!
Spend time with friends
Laughter is the best medicine! Spend time with your girlfriends or guy friends. Book a massage (OMG so worth the investment, check Groupon), hair or nail salon, Ooo! even, a shopping spree (on a budget, of course). Cherish these simple moments, have fun. Let your hair down!
I hope these suggestions help. Sometimes we need to enjoy the fruit of our labors. We can’t run on empty. Schedule time for your own enjoyment and relaxation! Reward your hard work!
“You will enjoy the fruit of your labor. How joyful and prosperous you will be!” – Psalms 128:2
