A Psalm of David
“The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For his name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever.”
David’s account of God is a very popular verse.
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. We are the sheep and the Lord is the Shepherd. He is the only one who can guide us. God is the only voice we follow. He leads us beside the still waters. No matter how deep we are in the mist of our troubles, Gods is even deeper. His voice calms any storm we face. There we lie down in the green pastures, free from the enemies clutches.
God breathe our very souls into the bodies he created. As his sheep we are lead into righteousness for his name sake. We give honor to God in all we do, if we choose to do what is right. As we are the sheep, we must listen to the instructions of how to lead a righteousness lifestyle. This is why the word of God is important to read. When we are lead astray through the darkest valley, where the shadows of the past and present haunt us, we will fear no evil. For God is with us, his rod and staff guides us back to the pastures and comforts us.
God prepares the table before me, while in the presence of the enemy of darkness, as he anoints my head with oil; the cup runs over. He pours his protection all over me. He pours his blessings all over me. As he pours and pours, the enemy runs back to hell, knowing he has yet again been defeated. For it is now, in the new days, goodness and mercy follow me wherever I go. Of all the days I endure within my life, I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. I have entered into the kingdom of the Most High. We are now the heirs to his glorious riches. Where I am, I am is with me. I am among the pastures. For he is my Shepherd and I will always be his sheep. No darkest can find me now. The enemy is defeated. I am Free!
