Advent-ure: Rediscover Christmas

What is advent? Preparing for the arrival of Jesus Christ. Clear the clutter of Holiday rush to get our hearts ready for Jesus. Rather than focus on the typical consumerism of Christmas. Slow down, practice a simpler tradition. Advent: coming or arrival of Christ. Use this season to open your heart to receive Jesus in a new and refreshing way. If you’re curious about this, come and take a peek. Go beyond the surface familiarity within the pages of Scriptures. Engage with the One who became the Savior for all humanity. We’ll unwrap His birth, the journey, and the legacy left behind.

For the next 4 weeks we’ll unwrap the life of Jesus, his identity and Gods plan. Please join me on an incredible Advent-ure. Each day, I’ll read a verse, share a reflection, list an activity, and post a prayer. I’m encouraging you to rediscover a deeper and meaningful relationship with Christ this Christmas.

Scripture Reading:

Jesus existed from the very beginning. Note the scripture uses words or phrases to describe Jesus exists; the Word already existed, the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through him. The Word gave life.., his life brought light to everyone.

Christ was present with God from the very beginning of creation. It is through Jesus humanity was crafted and given life. It also mentions how humanity lived in darkness, but Christ brought light to pierce the night. This, can be foretelling of how Christ has overcome the world (darkness) for He is made of pure light. He did not fear it because it only exist temporarily, while light can diminish the dark.

This, in the last verse justifies how light cannot be extinguish. No matter where you are in the dark, the light from Jesus will always find you. As we surround ourselves in the light, we will never be blinded by darkness. These words speak true about living in fear. Choose not to allow the whispers of fear grow louder then the light of hope. In hope, we can move past the dark into light, growing deeper into Faith. Jesus is there, from the very beginning, always close. All you have to do is turn towards His light casting the shadows.

Don’t be afraid. You will see the beauty of Christ illumination. Where the Father also resides. And rediscover something you never knew before, a love story written for you.

Journal/Group Discussion responses to this question: How does Jesus light in our world give us hope?

-Daily write 3 things you are Thankful for. (You may discover something new when you adjust your lens on life.)

Father, wow we discovered (I even discovered) how much of the beginning wasn’t just a coincidence. Christ was with You, Christ was You in the very beginning our existence. Just as the Word (Christ) already existed, it let’s me (and hope some of you) realize I am here for a reason.

We were written into your plans even before we appeared in the womb. Our story begins with You, as the Great Author, but you’re not finish yet. We hit some rocky, dark chapters, but those parts are small compared to the overall story. I surrender the pen to you, light up the pages with the greatest story ever. Oh I trust we learned a great deal of lessons from those tough times which is to prepare us for something greater to come. The fact we’re alive today is true testament to this, please say with me: “I was born for a greater purpose. And God is going to show me how valuable I am.” There is a light surrounding me so brightly, see how the darkness begins to retreat.

In Jesus Mighty Name, Amen 🙏🏼

  1. I’m working more on the Old Testament myself. In fact I have deduced the series of seven Words God used to initialize Creation, or at least their English equivalents. Want ’em?

      1. Mot, French for Word. From Latin, smallest ordinal component (mote). Mot(IV)e. Word-for-measure. ie, the words “I Am”.

Arose by any other name? heh heh heh.

      2. Whaddayouacop? baaahahaha.

The mote I’ve ate allows no hate. Care to skate a figure eight? Here, one must be choosy, though. Eternity comes on quite late.

(Ozzy Osbourne’s Walk on Water comes to mind right now, in case you’re in a musical mood)

      3. 😆 no I’m not. Most programmable conversations or phrases “What’s you’re ulterior motive?” More than what meets the eye sort of way it’s used in context. 😆
Thanks for the musical. It’s befitting.

  2. Every time I hear a story of positivity and faith, every time I hear that one of my fellow brothers or sisters are winning, and being blessed with abundance … I know that’s the blessing of Christ, and that blessing give me hope and grounds my faith.
