It’s officially winter now, where I live. Snow has begun to fall. Cue the song “Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas”. My job allowed us to leave work early. I couldn’t be more excited to go home and take a nap. Feeling refreshed and more focus to share today’s message.
Scripture: Matthew 1:21 NIV
Reflection:
There are many names associated with Jesus. We will take a closer look at the first name. The name used most often in our prayers. In Hebrew, JESUS name is translated as Yehoshua, meaning “The Lord Saves” (Jehovah saves). Which is equivalent to “Joshua”, meaning “The Lord is salvation”.
Take a closer look: The 1st Joshua saved his people, the Israelites out of Egypt and lead them into the Promise Land. Here, the 2nd “Joshua”, JESUS saved humanity from a spiritual devastation. Differences between them is this: Joshua saved the Israelites from physical bondage, while Jesus saved humanity from spiritual bondage (and remains to do this, even now). SALVATION for eternity of those who believe in Him. The meaning behind the name of Jesus define His destiny. He was destined to be the one to rescue humanity from sin.
Take a moment to digest. Learning this truth for myself, speaking the name of JESUS carries power. Ending each prayer with “In Jesus Name”is a cry for Him to come and save us. It even cause the enemy to flee. “The Lord Saves” all who come to Him. All who seek after Jesus learn the truth. He is the way, the truth, and the life. He is our savior, which means His has a responsibility to save us. We are His people. God patiently awaits the return of His children, us. Jesus doesn’t stop saving people, just because He died on the cross. He rose again, so He can save us all. Jesus continues to deliver us from bondage and welcome us into the family of God.
Activity:
Collect can goods or non-perishable items to donate to a food pantry. Invite a group of friends to join you.
Daily: Write 3 things you are Thankful for today. Create a different list then the one from yesterday. You may discover God answered one of your prayer request or gave you favor in a small problem.
Prayer:
“Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”
Sometimes God, we forget what Jesus has done for us. You sent Your only Son to save us. Our fears to tear us away from the truth. Feeling like salvation is done and we’ve messed up so badly we can’t ever attain salvation. All that you require for us is faith and to seek after Jesus. But the scary part is surrendering the weight of our truth. The danger lies with the battles roaming inside my heart. Hidden inside is my truth, which I’m afraid to face. Maybe I feel I’m not strong enough to withstand and will no less fail You again. You said, when I am weak, Father You make me strong. God, I need strength to focus all on You. I pray instead of running away from You, I begin to run towards You. Holy Spirit, light my way to You. Jesus save me. Wherever I am, Jesus be with me.
In Jesus Name Amen.
What expectations do you have for Jesus?

I think I found an interesting little tidbit about “zero-time”, ie the birth of Christ.

Pretty cool right?

Meaning? I’m not following. Could be I’m terribly tired or terrible at reading. 😑

BC/AD with the C lumped into the AD. Jesus as equator of time between the Earthly and that beneath the boundaries of perceptability, except time is closer to conical than spherical, so equator of *His* time.
He was the one running with the torch for the last 2020 odd years, unless the Muslims are right. If I don’t miss my guess, someone else’s turn is coming up on us faster than we think.
That leads to Jesus’ turn again, though.

There will be another race. How soon? Well we aren’t exactly sure, just speculation and theories. Jesus for the win!

I see it a different way. I see the “big bad” (who I think is me, by the way) is the vestibule through which we must pass to reach the Glory of Heaven.

We are to give up ourselves to see the glory of God. Spirit over flesh. If that’s what you mean

I don’t understand this sort of math.

Sorry, I thought it was funny. Sort of an expression of a pidgin dialect. Spirit and flesh give each other something while losing nothing, creating the Trinity balance.
