Advent-ure: Rediscover Christmas Day 13

Remember the first time you learned how to swim or ride a bike. It was so scary, because it was unfamiliar. The thought of doing it actually made it seem impossible. Then dad or mom came along to support and with lots of practice you mastered it. Only when a trusted support came along, did we begin to trust our ability to master a new skill.

Even when the challenge ahead is unfamiliar, it’s scary. However, there is support to help walk you through the process. You don’t have to go through it alone. A trusted friend. Jesus, is a trusted friend.

Scripture:

Reflection:

John called Jesus “the Lamb” twice in the Gospel and numerous times in Revelation. Derived from the multitude of sacrificial lambs offered as an atonement for sins. Notable in the Old Testament. Yet, Jesus superseded this practice by becoming the One to sacrifice for our sins for eternity. Similar to the shedding of the innocent blood of a lamb. The lamb symbolizes gentleness, innocence, and purity. Jesus, became the Lamb, lived a pure and innocent life, took away the sin of the world.

Jesus. A name which carries more power then we could ever fathom.

Jesus. His love stain the world.

Jesus. Thank You.

Activity:

Watch a Holiday Movie with the family. A Christmas Carol is a good one. Reminding us what we forget the most. The holidays can be painful for some people. Healing takes time. The message found in this movie, memories will never be lost and forgiveness is the greatest gift.

Prayer:

John, whom many thought was the Messiah, knew the One who was. He happily shared the good news. The idea of such a man is a hard truth to accept. It takes time. Jesus, is patient. Jesus never stops being available because I turned away from Him. God still loves me, even when I feel so lost. I have a long way to go, but I need help finding my way. Show me who You are. Give me the Grace to walk this journey.

In Jesus Name, Amen!
