God Hears

In the bible group, I would sit and listen to the others asking for prayers of family members and friends facing challenges or illness. I thought my prayers weren’t as pressing as everyone else. My struggles were minimal compared to the others. I kept my request silent to avoid looking at people’s faces or hearing the questions or advice that followed. I felt others simply wouldn’t understand how I could be a believer and struggle daily. My request was better left unspoken.

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. – Romans 12:12

Even though I couldn’t share at the bible group, I had a trusted friend/coworker who I could ask for prayer. Most of our lunchtime was spent in prayer or bible study. Together, we pray to ask God to set us free from bondage, that we might experience true freedom in Christ. We petition God to give us the peace and patience needed to seek Him daily. As we gather to pray, I found comfort and strength in my relationship with God. I am grateful to my friend for participating in my spiritual development.

Many of us have earnest prayers that seem to go unanswered. At times, we can feel nervous about sharing among large groups. We can be assured, God does care and hear all of our requests. He urges us to continue to walk closely with Him, be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer. God is our source of comfort.

Reflect & Pray

God, scripture urges us to pray continually. Teach us how to be persistent. Give us the courage to become faithful partners with others. Show me how to delight in Your promises. My help comes from You. In Jesus Name, Amen!

What do you need to share with God? Who can you invite into prayer?
