5 verses to console anxiety

Since I have summer break, I decided to set habits and design a space to encourage less anxiety. It does take time to create new patterns, be consistent and patient. I discovered I fall prey to excessive thoughts worrying about the future and what could go wrong. In truth, I can’t foresee what awaits me in the future. I can only embrace the here and now.

Christ saves me from anxiety, and it is soothing. Today, I share some of my favorite verses. Delight in the Lord and meditate on His promises.

1. PHILIPPIANS 4:6

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

Usually, we would ask God to remove the difficulty. But, we can thank God for guiding us through. The more we turn to God, the less anxious we feel. We aren’t held captive by the situation as long as we take it to the Lord.

2. 1 PETER 5:7

Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

This is one of my favorite verses. I can lift my burdens to the Lord through prayer and sit in His presence. I’m learning how to run to God when I feel anxiety building up. The more I posture myself before the Lord, the closer I feel to Him. I won’t escape the difficulty, but I am assured God can guide me through it.

3. ISAIAH 35:4

Say to those who have an anxious heart, Be strong; fear not! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, with the recompense of God. He will come and save you.”

The Lord will fight the battles. No problem is too great for God. He delivers on His plans for us. The antidote at the end is comforting, “He will come and save you.” And yes, His promises do not return void.

4. PROVERBS 12:25

An anxious heart weighs a man down, but a kind word cheers him up.

A kind word can ease an anxious heart. I’m learning to be kinder to myself and others when things don’t go as planned. I can control how I respond to minimize the tension. A pep talk helps, followed by inhales-exhales. Ease the energy of frustration to channel clarity and focus.

5. PSALM 94:19

When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul.

God is so good! We may not always understand WHY things happen, but God does. God knows everything and much more than we could ever comprehend. God is enough to console our anxious heart. Fall into His loving and secure arms.

I hope this post and verses were helpful as much as they have helped me. I find keeping these verses in a notebook makes it easier to access God at any time. I hope to continue to guide you along your journey to discover Christ. If you need more encouragement, click here for more inspiration.
